Treat Your Yard

Using different types of yard treatments can help contain the spreading of fleas. Also contact your local lawn services to help treat your yard.

Treat Your House

  • Vacuum! (Carpet, hardwood, tile, rugs, and furniture)
  • Do not forget welcome mats inside and outside!
  • Wash all bedding - Anything the pet(s) sleep on

Now that you know what to use, this is how we recommend you proceed to achieve optimum effectiveness!

  • Give every animal Capstar... since this kills all the fleas feeding on your pet in six hours and use those six hours to treat the home and yard.
  • Clean the house. Wash all pet bedding and vacuum carpet, hardwood, rugs, and furniture. Concentrate on areas where the pet spends most of his/her time. Be sure to dispose of the vacuum cleaner bag or debris in a tied-off plastic bag placed in the OUTSIDE trash can.
  • Use indoor flea treatment or call a professional exterminator. Follow labeled directions on any product.
  • Treat the yard with an insect killer for turf and soil, use as directed, or have a professional exterminator treat your home and yard.
  • At least six hours after giving the Capstar, bathe the pets. For best results use a mild shampoo, NOT a flea shampoo as it will strip the oils in the skin and prevents the topical products from being as effective.
  • TOPICAL: For cats and dogs on a topical product, make sure the animal is COMPLETELY dry before applying the product. We recommend applying it at night right before bed, especially if you have children so as to avoid transfer of the product when petting the animal. Two weeks after the initial application, apply another dose of topical treatment and use it monthly thereafter.
  • ORAL: Give the Comfortis, Trifexis, Bravecto, or NexGard after a meal. (Dogs only)
