Owner/Doctor: C. David Summerlin, DVM
Dr. Summerlin started Ark Animal Hospital as an individual practitioner in December 1992. The practice was originally located on Hwy 90. Over the years, Ark has grown to include five doctors and as of last year, a new location on Berryhill Road. Even though the practice has grown, his philosophy of a "Small Animal Hospital with a Big Heart" has prevailed. He feels it is important to treat clients and their pets as family.
Dr. Summerlin is married and has three children. His extended family also lives in the area. Amos, a Golden Retriever, four cats and two horses complete his family.
Dr. Summerlin received his DVM degree from Auburn University School of Veterinary Medicine.
His areas of interest include veterinary family practice.
Doctor: Chiaki Inomata, DVM
Joined Ark in 2004.
After attending the University of South Alabama, Dr. Inomata earned her DVM degree from Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1999. Before joining Ark Animal Hospital in 2004, she worked as an associate veterinarian at several clinics in Pensacola and also as a relief veterinarian.
She is married and has many non-human children at home. She is a member of Pensacola Dog Fanciers' Association and an Afghan Hound Rescue group. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening.
Her areas of interest include geriatric and internal medicine.
Doctor: Emma Dawson, MS, DVM
Joined Ark in December of 2007.
Dr. Dawson did her undergraduate studies at Vanderbilt University, her graduate studies at University of Louisville, and received her DVM degree from Auburn University School of Veterinary Medicine.
Dr. Dawson has multiple cats and the "best" Jack Russell in the world. She is engaged to be married in the spring of 2009.
Her areas of interest include oncology and neurology.
Doctor: Randy Maddox, DVM
Randy Maddox attended Auburn University and received his DVM degree in 1985. After working in Alabama and South Florida, Dr. Maddox and his wife moved to Pensacola in 1991.
Dr. Maddox works at Ark on Tuesdays and Fridays. His area of interest is surgery.
Doctor: Norma Berberich, DVM
Originally from Kentucky, Dr. Berberich received her DVM degree from Auburn University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1987. She practiced in Elizabethtown, KY for two years before moving to Florida in 1989. She has since worked at the animal emergency clinic in Pensacola (except for a return to general practice from 1996-1999 as an associate here at Ark.) She is married with multiple pets: cats, dogs, horses.
Her areas of interest include emergency medicine and surgery.
